WHO ARE "FRIENDS OF MORAINE VIEW"
The Friends of Moraine View State Recreation Area, Inc. is a 501c(3) charitable organization purposed to revitalize the State Park. (Some may be more familiar with Dawson Lake, which is the lake inside the park.) Over the past 15 years, budget cuts have impacted the park's maintenance. Friends has responded to the need by handling projects such as brush cutting, trash pickup, tree planting, and creating bird and butterfly sanctuaries. The Friends of Moraine View would be pleased to coordinate with you, your family, church, youth group or any other groups to help get people active and serving in our community.
We are always on the lookout for fresh ideas, new volunteers or folks who are just willing to help get the word out! Each and every effort made helps!

Each year, the local community has contributed a variety of resources to continue improving the Moraine View State Recreation Area. Here are the latest 2019 efforts!
- Installation of new directional signage throughout the park
- Debris pickup directly from Dawson Lake by hand picking while on kayaks
- Installation of additional fishing line receptacles
- Continued Outdoor Movie Nights at Gander Bay Campground
- Debris pickup throughout the Gander Bay Campground
- Remarking the Friends of Moraine View Walking Trail
These projects are not possible without the help of local support by organizations and individuals alike.
